After a deep meditation session, Lucy found endless and supreme joy from the experience. Even though her body was tight, she wanted to pursue the joy of practising yoga. In 2011, she took the international TTC class of Iyengar Yoga and became one of the first group of Iyengar teachers certified by the China Iyengar Association. Since then, she studies at India General Academy every year and has followed different international masters. Lucy first studied with Australian teacher John Leebold, learning correct alignment and physical therapy techniques. She has also studied with Rita Keller, a master in Iyengar pregnancy yoga. In 2015, she extended her learning by pursuing chanting, breathing, meditation, child yoga and yoga physiotherapy from four famous teachers at India's Krishna Machari College. Two years later, she followed Mira Mehta to study Ayurveda and yoga. And in 2018, she learnt from Stephanie Quirk, an Iyengar yoga physiotherapy master. Lucy has taught over 10,000 hours to students all over the world and her classes present clear content and themes involving foundational practices, toning the legs, deep stretching, spinal health, aiding digestion, back bending, hormonal regulation, shoulder and neck healing, wall rope and more. Her classes are welcoming, witty, often philosophical, yet rigorous and fun. Lucy says – her parents gave her the first life; Buddhism gave her a second life; and yoga gave her a third life. This class follows the tradition developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. The practice emphasises precision, alignment and safety. Asanas are held for longer periods of time than in other styles with the purpose of allowing the muscles to open and relax; simultaneously promoting focus and awareness in the students. Yoga props such as blocks, straps and blankets may be used to aid the understanding of postures and to allow students to perform the asanas safely. This class helps to integrate the mental and physical planes, bringing about a sense of inner and outer balance. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included.
