Beginners’ Fundamentals – Backbends

Backbend asanas strengthen the legs and hips, massage the spine, and open the heart. Methodical practice of these asanas also offers an opportunity to explore the body and its movements with attention and care. In the process, the mind is calmed and the body becomes energised, leaving the practitioner revitalised and refreshed. During this class, students will experience the fundamentals and principles of prone and kneeling backbends.

Suitable for new practitioners and students who want to increase their knowledge of yoga’s fundamental poses and alignment. This class sets a solid foundation for other yoga classes. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included.
