TK Chua

SH Century Link, Shanghai, Hong Kong

Born in Taiping, Malaysia, TK was inspired by a yogi whilst on a monastic retreat when he was 16. His curiosity about anatomy and the purpose of life led him to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). With this TCM background, he was ready to delve deeper into the world of Yoga and its philosophy. In 2017, TK met his first yoga teachers Nicole He and Jessica Sinclair in Singapore. Their teaching equipped TK with a deep understanding of yoga, simultaneously generating his greater thirst for Yoga knowledge. After completing his RYT500, TK was passionate about continuing a yogic lifestyle and he started daily yoga practice, reading and meditation. TK came to Shanghai and started teaching yoga in 2018. He felt grateful to meet so many yoga practitioners from various countries, being able to share different thoughts and experiences in yoga and philosophy. “The body is a temple”, as quoted from ancient Indian philosophy – an inspiring way to describe how our body, mind and society or world is connected to each other. These beautiful words always inspired TK to consciously connect his asana and breathing practice to the mental and spiritual level. In TK’s view, yoga is a conscious way of life – a practice for learning to live in the present moment, to keep an open mind and heart in experiencing whatever comes from life. TK has a unique and in-depth knowledge of the human anatomy, TCM meridians and acupuncture. In his class, he fully respects each individual’s unique body structure and is good at simplifying this knowledge during asana practice. This helps students to enjoy yoga practice in a safe and relaxed environment.
