Wendy, a former visual designer, tried yoga for the first time simply for the sake of exercise. She was fascinated by the resilience and calmness of the practice, inspiring her to explore the knowledge and secrets beyond the asanas. Wendy took in a lot from teachers Bill Arce, Lance Schuler, Duncan Wong, Leo Cuda who showed her the discipline, humility and sincerity of a true yogi. Bill's enthusiasm for teaching and his quest for excellence had a profound effect on her. She was inspired by Duncan Wong’s yogic arts' unique philosophy and rigorous system, which gave her a big leap forward in her practice and laid a solid foundation for teaching. From Bill and Duncan's devotion to their teaching, Wendy became committed to being an exponent of yoga, sharing the purity and wisdom that yoga brings to us. Learning Vipassana Mindfulness by Sarah Powers solidified her understanding of the philosophy of yoga, giving her greater passion and excitement to stand on the yoga mat. Wendy applies the principles of rhythmic control of breathing, stability of the roots, strengthening of the core, alignment of the joints and building perseverance to her yoga practice, which are also important factors in helping her with long-distance running. Her teaching style is rigorous with a touch of humour, with clear instructions and smooth sequences. Adept at observing and identifying students' potential, Wendy encourages her students to participate and try different exercises, finding focus and awareness in the moment and in the experience which is far more valuable than completing a difficult asana.
