YOGA

At the invitation of her sister in 2008, Kimmy stepped onto the yoga mat for the very first time in life and got overwhelmed by the experience. Out of curiosity, drive, and passion to learn and read, she has always been interested in finding out the rationale behind yoga alignment instructions given by her teachers. In 2010, both the increase of workload and stress from work blurred her work-life balance but surprisingly, Kimmy found calmness, relaxation and relief after each yoga class. Since then, she has been loving and practising yoga on a regular basis which helps restore her physical and mental health. Kimmy has met, and will keep meeting people, along her yogic path which bring enlightenment to her learning, teaching and further studies. Dr. Bryan Lau, both a medical doctor and yoga teacher, explained the anatomy of yoga in a funny way to learn and absorb which makes Kimmy do her own in-depth study in anatomy, online and offline. Also, Dr. Bryan Lau is one of the people who encouraged Kimmy to pursue her yoga dream when she was still young enough to start all over again even if she might fail. Kimmy flew all the way to India, the motherland of yoga, to continue studying yoga teaching training and prenatal yoga courses with groups of yogis from around the globe, where she met another important inspiring yoga teacher, Karo Sharma. Karo is a passionate, seasoned, international yoga teacher and teacher-coach that inspired Kimmy to do self-discovery and self-recognition through the practice of yoga. Karo also influenced her a lot on how to teach yoga with confidence and her authentic self. From studying anatomy to recently a shift to focus on mental health, like mindfulness, sound therapy and breathwork, Kimmy aims to continuously help others and herself maintain holistic wellness through teaching yoga with a therapeutic approach. She aims to spread the importance of the mind-body-spirit connection and health in her teaching. In Kimmy’s classes, you can expect a fun, challenging, and safe and mindful way to practise yoga. She hopes that her students can bring the concepts of yoga off the mat and live each moment in life with awareness, gratitude and calmness.
